I will be a freshman this fall and I am wondering about housing. I might be doing random rooming. How does iu handle rooming? Do they offer a survey and pair based on similar interests? If not, is there any way to find a roommate with similar interests? Also, what would be the best dorm to be in as a freshman with social opportunities?
Use RoomSync. If you go random, it is completely random. However, you can find someone on RoomSync with similar interests and choose them to be your roommate. I did this and it actually ended up not working out because we both applied to the Kelley LLC and only he got in, but the person I found is still a good friend. IU probably has sent out an email about it, but here is a link if you can’t find it.

IU2020 has a facebook page and a roommate finder - you can select area and major if you want a better match. Good luck!
