Roommate Matching

I've heard that Cornell is pretty bad at random roommate matching, and that finding a roommate online would probably work out better. Does anyone have any experience with this- is the matching really that bad, or do randomly paired roommates still work out?

I would take the roommate matching. It isn’t so much that Cornell is bad at it - it’s that people lie.

I do think that Cornell may have a bad matching since she doesn’t provide a very detailed questionnaire.
Some 2015er told me that they really didn’t have a great time with their rommies

Unless you know the person in advance, I don’t think finding someone online is going to be better than the random matching. First semester of college may be the time when people are most apt to change in their entire lives; so how a person is now can be substantially different once they’re on their own in school.
