Roommate Selection at Tulsa?

Hello,

As my chances of attending TU next year seem to be increasing every day, I am curious about housing and roommate selection. Though I have found plenty of information on the TU website and through the mail about housing selection, I have yet to find anything about roommates.

At many schools I've looked into, students fill out a survey/questionnaire which helps to match them with a potential roommate (With questions like how late do you stay up, how much do you study, how early do you wake, do you want visitors in the room, etc.). I have yet to find any such thing associated with TU or any info at all about how/when roommates are assigned.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Yes, TU has a roommate match survey that you will complete when you apply for housing. I didn’t look at it when my son completed it, but I recall him saying that it asked lots of questions, so hopefully they’ll do a good job matching you with a roommate. If you have a problem with your roommate, TU makes it very easy to switch. Good luck!

Great thank you! That’s good to hear.

Does anyone know in general how the freshman dorms are at TU and which ones are the best?

I guess it depends upon your perspective. I have heard some say they’re old and not that nice. My son, who spent a year in technical school in a dorm that looked like a very cheap motel, thinks they’re fine. I was surprised at the size of the rooms. They’re quite large. Some of the dorms have sinks in the rooms, which is nice. Fisher, the dedicate freshman dorm, does not have sinks, but I think is a little newer. My son started in John Mabee and moved to Fisher. He liked the community feeling in Fisher much better. I believe Lottie Jane is the female dorm equivalent of John Mabee (larger rooms with sinks in the room).

The rooms are a little older, but not bad. The apartment housing is nicer and will be available to you later on. I have actually heard recently that TU does random roommate selection, so I’m not entirely sure about the process.
