My roommate got drunk and vomited off her bed into the radiator. I turned off the heater and opened all the windows (and called the RA on call, who called EMS, who made sure she was okay), but I don’t know what to do now! It’s been two days; I filed a work order with cleaning services, but they got back to me and said that they don’t do in-dorm cleaning while the dorms are occupied. I can’t live like this! The dorm reeks unless we have the windows open, and it’s the beginning of winter in Minnesota! I had to wear my down jacket to bed! Does anyone have advice on how to clean this up?
I would speak to the next level up in the housing department. It was good to start with cleaning services, but now go up the chain.
It should be your roommate’s responsibility to get it cleaned up!
Yes, where’s your roommate? It should be her responsibility and honestly she should do it.
Have the roommate clean it or talk to head of housing at the college. If it’s a reoccurring problem, I’d probably insist that they give me a new dorm.
How gross @DracaTempest427 ! Sorry you are having to deal with this. Good for you for making sure she was medically safe and sound! I hope your roommate is appreciative and will take the lead in the clean-up. If not, I think any correspondence you do should be via email and c.c. her on it - it’s helpful to have paper trails on these things, and having her name and email attached to the communications may prompt her to become more proactive. Plus, if there is an additional fee for whatever cleaning/sterilizing that needs to be done, she will know that is her responsibility. Could your school possibly have any rooms where you could stay at least temporarily? It would be a pain, but you would not have to freeze or smell vomit all night.
@DracaTempest427 Sorry you are going through this through no fault of your own. Honestly I cannot fathom that your roommate is not embarrassed and so sorry she is leading the clean up and trying to reassure you it will be taken care of. It is really shocking that some kids in close quarters are not considerate of others
Ask your roommate to figure it out!
Ummmm. In my day, I-cleaned up my roomate’s Vomit. Good training for having kids.
Original post was 6 months ago. I’m on my knees praying that this issue has been taken care of.
Closing old thread.
