Roommate

Hi, I was wondering how some of you started talking to your roommate? My roommate and I picked each other due to how much we had in common, but when I try to talk to her, to get to know her better, she isn't very talkative. She said she was shy, so I don't want to come off as annoying or trying to be best friends, but I want to get her know her more.

Is it too early to try to get to know her more?
What's the best to do this? Phone call, text, Facebook?

We already know about our major and school related stuff.

Thanks:)

I’m not a college student but if she is sigh then just text her. After all you’ll need to know who bringing what. You’ll be talking more once you are in the same room.

Text is the best option, IMO. My roommate and I exchanged about one or two lengthy FB messages telling about each other, decided that we’d be good matches, signed up as roommates, then started texting. Now we just occasionally text about general things, about how our proms just went, he went on a trip and sent a pic of the place they were at, we send each other funny things we see… it’s totally casual and it feels like we’re good friends already. In-between all of this, getting to know each other just “happens.”

Don’t start planning stuff, such as what you’re going to bring, how you want to set up the room, etc… that all comes later.
