roommates in different grades

I am going to be a freshman next year, and I did random roommate. I found out that I got paired with a sophomore, which I thought was a little strange...I realize there are both positives and negatives to this: she will know a lot about the school and will be able to help me get accustomed to college life, but then at the same time, I feel as if I won't have as much to offer and may unintentionally be a burden at times... Any advice?

I think I’m going to be the same, I’ll be in the Junior year and will probably be rooming with a freshman. Difference is, I don’t know the school either as I’m doing a year abroad there. So yeah, I want to know people’s advice too :D

My friend (a freshman) had a roommate that was a sophomore and there were no issues :). Her rrommate did now a bit more about the school, since she had already been there for a year, but they got along decently! As long as you don act all whiny/complain a lot/have major issues, it will usually be fine!

Meh. A sophomore is only one year older than you… I was stuck with a junior and two seniors (on the 5 year plan). I actually became best friends with the seniors. You never know who you are going to make friends with. The nice thing about them being older is they could help me transition and knew a decent amount about the school.

I had a junior roommate as a freshman who spent all her time drinking and sleeping around. That was probably just her personality, though.

Next year, I’ll be a sophmore rooming with a freshman. I’m almost looking forward to it, provided they don’t have Preacher’s Daughter Syndrome. I like teaching people about the campus and giving them a hand.

I don’t think freshman/sophomore mix will be a problem.

I was a junior with a freshman and that was not very much fun, but it could have been had she not been such a beastly person in general. I met some nice freshmen on my floor I wouldn’t have minded living with.

All of my roommates this year were seniors and I am a sophomore (but I did choose to live with them off campus).
