Is it true you can't select roommates until August? I submitted my dorm preferences but, I'm a little confused about requesting particular roommates I know from HS.

you have to request the roommate on the dorm survey you filled out already. And you also need your friend to fill out an identical survey. You still should be able to get back and edit it.

Since we’re on this topic, I’d like to ask a few questions about the residential colleges (if it’s okay!).

So, I’m planning on majoring in engineering, because I’m a physics/math kind of bro. I looked at the profiles on the Bing website and I saw that Mountainview is mostly for engineers (correct me if I’m wrong?). But then I read the Dickinson profile and I learned that they have this CORE thing for people interested in robotics and engineering. The Dickinson profile also mentions that it is the “studious” dorm.

So, which one is better for engineers–Mountainview or Dickinson?

Thanks.

I would not call Dickinson the “studious” dorm, that belongs to Hinman. They do have the CORE thing, I don’t know much about it. It’s also the least popular dorm.

Mountainview does seem to have a lot of engineers, it’s also very popular. If you don’t get into Mountainview as a freshman, you won’t be able to move into it later, because it fills up with people who already live there/saved spots for freshmen. (Unless the new Newing buildings change this)

Overall, every community has a mix of all majors. You will live with/near other engineers no matter what community you end up in.

I would suggest trying to get into Newing… the new buildings are so nice!
