So what if you totally hate the roommate that your college assigns you? Can you request to change roommates?

yes..........

If you truly have a problem with the person, I'm sure you can ask someone for a room change. Not to be nosy, but what's the problem?

Best to be open with your roommate first, though, if you have not said anything to them yet. If you are avoiding confrontation than YOU are the problem!

lol, I'm not in college yet. Just curious about it though.

I think you have to have a reason for hating your roommate. You can't just hate their guts for no identifiable reason and then ask for a room change. But, yes, all colleges have some process for switching roommates.

Here at VT if you get all four people to agree you can do a room change for any or no reason.

It never hurts to ask - housing might have some free rooms.

But yeah, at least here you can request a different roommate for whatever reason...but try to come up with a good one.

my daughters roommate has not changed clothes/showered or done laundry since arriving on campus. Their room reeks. D opens the windows and sprays roomates bed/clothes with Freebreeze whenever she leaves the room (which is hardly ever).

I told D she has to talk to her or at least ask her RA for suggestions.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how my D can broach this stinky subject?

wow, are you serious? literally hasn't changed clothes since the start of the year?

that's awesome...she should just tell her that she straight up reeks...you would think she would be able to smell her own stench
