Rosetta Stone?

How effective is Rosetta Stone? I'm a freshman planning on teaching myself French starting this summer. I am currently taking Spanish at school and also fluent in 2 other languages.

If you didn't like Rosetta stone, what other methods do you recommend?

Rosetta Stone is very effective.

As long as you already know Greek, learning Hieroglyphics should be a breeze.

Rosetta Stone is okay… My friend learned French from Rosetta Stone from the basics and will be entering French 3H (just from Rosetta Stone).

If you are really interested in becoming very proficient in French, and want to have fun check out AJATT(dot)com.

Thanks for the feedback! Have you guys heard of the Pimsleur method? I’ve heard that’s also effective as well but it emphasizes conversational skills instead of solely focusing on vocal

Pimsleur looks ridiculously boring. While I think Rosetta Stone has its faults, I think one of the most understated benefits it offers is engagement- it will hold your attention better than any other method.

I tried the demo and Rosetta Stone seems fun. Is the $$ worth it, and if not are there places that sell it cheaper?

^Check out Craigslist. I personally preferred Pimsleur, since Rosetta Stone just pitches vocabulary at you.
