Ross and Cost?

I have been accepted into the business school at Penn State, LSA at U Mich, and the undergrad school at U Texas @ Austin. Being a PA resident over the course of four years the cost of Penn State is about 60k less then either Texas or Michigan. Do you think the extra 60k it would take to go to either Texas or Michigan is worth it over Penn State's Business School. I am majoring in Finance and plan on working either for a Financial Firm or going to Law School after undergrad. Assuming I got the exact same grades at either college do you think there is a significant difference in the way these colleges are viewed? Thanks so much.

Of course there is a significance in the way these three are viewed. While the latest Business Week rankings are not perfect, they are a close indication of reality. UM is ranked 6th, and Penn State I think is 25th. This does not mean you cannot get an excellent education at Penn State. My daughter is in Ross and I do know the recruitment opportunities there are amazing. Check out the schools you are interested in with regard to recruitment/on campus career development. Get a list of the companies that recruit there for starters.

oddjob, the only two fields where Michigan has a leg up over PSU (other than the Football field of course!) are Business and Prelaw.

I do not think it is worth going into major debt however. IF you can afford Michigan, I would recommend it over PSU. However, if money is a concern and attending Michigan means much more debt, I would just go for PSU, which is a top university in its own right.
