Only a few more hours now! Let's post our decisions and stats.

I figure a template isn't necessary. Just post your decision, GPA, grades in Econ, Calc, and English, and comment on your application's strengths/"hooks"/etc.

brg, thanks for making this thread. i’ll be sure to put my decision up. good luck to all. i expect to get rejected, but either way it will be a fascinating story to tell.

ALSO: Please note that Ross Pre-Admits should not post their stats/gpas, because this will be misleading. This thread is meant to help those who apply next year to get a sense of how the admission process works.

Sophomore applicant
3.61 GPA (4.0 last semester)
Econ 101: A Econ 401: A
Calc 1: B+ Calc 2:B- (hated that class)
English 125: B+ Polisci 343 (ulwr): A+
Acc 271: A

Ecs: treasurer of a large student organization, lots of budget management and headed committees.

Thought my essays were really good (thought that last year though too haha)
Overall my app was a bit stronger than the first time around. I’m getting a BA on economics but I can’t decide whether to accept the offer. If a minor in business is an option that would be appealing as well. Good luck amigos.

EC: decent, simple member status in a couple of medium-sized student orgs
(also did UROP)

Essays: kind of mediocre to be honest… I remember starting them on St. Patty’s weekend of all weekends. But maybe they’re better than I thought, cause I don’t know how else I could’ve gotten admitted.

@KyleTwentyEleven Yeah, essays/EC’s are huge. My UM GPA wasn’t great either pre-Ross, but I had a very compelling story via my essays when I was admitted last year.

Accepted
Freshman applicant
3.73 GPA
Econ 101- A
Eng 125- A
Stats 250- A+
Math - AP Credit

EC: Fraternity, UROP, and some other small stuff
Essays: Worked pretty hard on essays

By the way, what’s the deal with the core classes, do they pick which sections we’re in when they “load our schedule”? In other words, could I be stuck with an 8am or something because Ross assigned me to it?

They put you into a section, and assign you core classes based on your section or pairing you with other select group of students. It has nothing to do with your schedule. And yes, you may unfortunately get 8am classes.

@Sneaker - Yes I’ve read that too. In their email out to everyone they said they’d put you in classes around ECON 102 as well, so maybe they do both?

I was a sophomore applicant (didn’t apply to Ross last year). I finished my freshman year with a really terrible GPA (parents died in a car accident), and I managed to pull a 3.6 this Fall & Winter semesters with classes like Orgo I & II (A+s in both), Physics I & II (As in both) and also some random gibberish classes.

Major ECs included running my own business the summer after freshman year, netting about $15k. My entire application was about this, and I put my heart into my essays (took about a month writing and rewriting them). I knew I was a reach with my awful GPA, but I guess they overlooked that stuff.

There is always hope if you have a low GPA…you can convince them that Business is your calling. Else, just get all As. Or apply the year they plan on adding 80 spots to the new freshman class! LOL I got so lucky.
