Ross Business School

How hard is it really to get into the Ross Business School? Do you need to have a lot of leadership experience and extracurriculars on top of good grades in order to get admitted?

like getting admitted into any other top ranked institution, admission into Ross is incredibly competitive. I am currently not a student at U-Mich (although I am hoping to be in the fall); however, my cousin did go through U-Mich undergrad at Ross and earned his MBA at U-Chicago. He informed me admission into Ross was incredibly competitive.

The thing is, if you work hard your first two years and earn very good grades in your core classes while involving yourself in several on/off campus activities and gaining leadership positions in them, your chances of admission into Ross improve drastically.

My best piece of advice for you (as well as myself, b/c I hope to attend Ross in a year) is to not slack off and start concentrating on the fun you want to have the first two years. Just like high school, it may seem fun at the time, but once you get to your winter term in your second year, it suddenly hits you. Don't let it hit you, recognize the challenge early and work towards your goal.

Best of luck to you harri! Maybe one day will work on Wall Street together.

Thanks for the reply Nova. We're actually in the same boat because I don't go to U-Mich right now either. I go to the University of Illinois and plan to transfer to U-Mich for sophmore year with the hopes of getting into the business school junior year.
