@JH8888 No, that’s not true. Ross Admissions Officers conduct their own, independent, holistic review of an application. All parts of the application are crucial - GPA, curriculum, test scores, essays, activities, etc.
@GoPack87 Not necessarily. Plenty of students get in without having business-related extracurriculars. So many students feel the need to start a small business to differentiate themselves, but that is not necessarily a constructive decision (Director of Ross Undergrad Admissions addressed this very question last year in a post).
Admissions is really all about marketing yourself.
@brantly That is correct. All of the information in this thread relates to Ross PA and Ross RD - not Umich Admission as a whole. Last year’s Ross BBA acceptance rate was 37% for those applying via RD during freshman year.
@TooOld4School GPA is important, but each year Ross turns down Michigan freshman applicants who have 4.0 GPAs. The entire application is extremely important.
Does gender make a difference at all? Seeing as there are usually more males than females pursuing business, would they give an edge to a female over a male with similar stats to try and even out the ratio?
@GoPack87 It does not make a huge difference. Ross is looking for students who will succeed at the school, regardless of gender. They aren’t trying to fill a quota and hence won’t accept students who are significantly less qualified just because they’re female. Ross uses holistic admissions and they stick to it.
I know the option to minor in Business is relatively new. Are you familiar with the process for applying to this program? I am curious if the process to apply for a minor in Business at Ross is the same as applying to major in Business at Ross? Is it as competitive? How many are admitted and acceptance rate %?
Thanks for posting this thread. My OOS son (Illinois) was accepted to UM yesterday via EA and is very excited about the possibility of becoming a Wolverine and studying at Ross.
Will anyone at Ross be contacting my son for interviews?;
What is the time frame in terms of when we should expect to hear back from Ross?;
Is there anything that my son needs to be doing between now and when decisions are made? For example, sending in 7th semester grades, providing supplements, reaching out to someone at UM to “show additional interest,” etc.
You stated that only 11% of Ross PA applicants are admitted? Do you have any idea what percentage of Ross PA applicants are even accepted to UM? Or are you saying that only 11% of accepted UM students who applied to Ross PA are accepted? If I read your numbers correctly, are you saying that approximately 1,100 students apply each year for Ross PA? It is my understanding that UM only takes on 100 PA freshman each year. Correct?
