Ross Question!?

I did not get pre admit to Ross, so now I will have to apply during my freshman year. I was just wondering what courses I would have to take to increase my chances of getting in to the b-school. I really want to get in and was wondering what they look for in an app? classes? gpa? EC's?

Thanks!

the three classes youll be required to take if you want to get in are any calc class (1 2 or 3), econ 101, and the freshman year writing requirement (such as english 125). if you want to improve your odds, take calc 2 or 3 instead of just calc 1, take another econ course such as 102 or a 300 level, or take a 300 level humanities or social science instead of a 100 level one. Just make sure you don’t overload yourself, as GPA is pretty important as well. For ECs, find a few activities that you enjoy and will give you something to write an essay about. Anything you spend your time on outside of class will look good, including fraternities, clubs, student government, or part time jobs.

As a current Ross student the most important thing about preparing for the application process is remember and stressing the important and unique things that you can offer the business school and your own personal reasons for wanting a business degree. While you want to do well in your classes, it doesn’t really matter what classes you take other than the pre-reqs. The pre-reqs are what are used to measure you against other students. Admissions want you to see explore your options. This is how many Ross students discover they want to do dual degrees or minor in LSA.

Demonstrating leadership and team experiences while in college is important. Anything you did in High School becomes irrelevant. You don’t have to become President of a club, but show your engagement, while not overreaching yourself. It doesn’t need to be anything major- easy way’s to get involved are in your dorm’s hall council or if there is a club that you’re interested in while many don’t have eboard positions open in the fall, many eboards and clubs are always looking for volunteers to help with events or manage a special project.
