If I got a C in Math 115 but an A- in English 125 (and have a 3.38 GPA), if I do well in Econ 101 next semester, do I still have a fighting chance of getting admitted to Ross for my sophomore year?

considering your grades and the fact that you should have taken Econ 101 first semester, it may be difficult getting into Ross. If you’ve done a lot of extracurricular activities that relate to business, you may have a little more leverage.

Just out of curiosity why should you take Econ 101 first semester?

…cause business school looks at it the most. and they usually review your application before your second semester grades

Ross takes both semesters of grades into account - there’s no advantage to taking Econ 101 in first or second semester. They review your application after both semesters of grades have been submitted.

Regarding your chances, the C in Math 115 will definitely hurt you, so you’ll have to work extra-hard to do well in Econ 101. Start the application early and get people you trust to review your essays. Get involved in extracurriculars that differentiate yourself and show your passion for business and leadership.

So yes, you will still have a fighting chance, but you will have to work hard.

Thanks for the honest responses. I’m willing to work hard to attain this goal, so I’m determined to do very well in ECON.

Also, I highly recommend reading the microeconomics chapters of Economics for Dummies ([Amazon.com: Economics For Dummies (0785555880504): Sean Masaki Flynn: Books](http://www.amazon.com/Economics-Dummies-Sean-Masaki-Flynn/dp/0764557262/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1261974918&sr=8-1)) if you want to do well in Econ 101. Even though it’s a “For Dummies” book, it’s literally the best introduction to microeconomics you can get. Read it before classes start and Econ 101 will be a breeze. I speak from experience.

what if i got a C- in Calc but an A in Econ and English 125 and a B in physics? I know a C or above is a requirement but I plan on taking Calc 2(did not try at all in Calc, bad choice). If I were to get a B or better in Calc 2 would that be the required calc class with a C or better or do all classes have to be a C or better? Do i need to retake Calc 1?
