How does the Ross business school fare in terms of job placement at Wall Street? Do as many students get interviews as they do at, say, Wharton? Do the BB firms come to the campus itself to recruit? How about UVA's business school?

Both McIntire and Ross have good representation on Wall Street. If Wharton/Princeton/Harvard are on Tier 1 schools in terms of IB/BB recruiting, I would say Ross is probably Tier 2 and McIntire is Tier 3 if not Tier 2. Basically you can land good jobs out of either school, though I would say Ross might be a little bit better than McIntire.

I’m at Ross so I can tell you more about it. The key to getting a Wall Street job is acing your classes and having a high GPA, which is VERY difficult given the competition. But 30% of my class has landed jobs in investment banking, and another 20-23% have landed jobs in consulting. Placement is definitely not as good as Wharton (they sent 28 kids to Goldman only last year), but it is on par with McIntire.

^ Major does not matter as much as being in the b-school. Everyone gets a BBA degree. However, you should concentrate in Finance/Accounting, or Finance/Math. But the key is GPA. If you don’t have over a 3.5+ and good networking skills, you don’t stand a chance. I concentrated in both Finance and Accounting, but my GPA was quite low for ibanking, so I hardly got interviews. I’ll be doing accounting instead.

Haas (Berkeley), Stern (NYU), HYPSM, Wharton, and the other Ivies. But that’s about it. One or two may have slipped my mind, but that’s the general list.

MightyNick- thanks. yeah, I just remembered that Ross has no official majors.
what about McCombs? do their best students get into Ib or consulting? USC Marshall? Mendoza? BC Carroll? Smeal?

McCombs + USC Marshall are solid in their respective regions too. Also, Cornell should stand on its own because its the only other ivy aside from W that has a business school and gets most of the big names on campus.

Also McIntire is in the same tier as UMich, no questions asked. Its closer to NYC, but Ross is slightly ahead because its has better ties to Chicago while still being solid for NYC. McIntire is mostly solid only in NYC and the smaller DC/mid-atlantic cities.

Don’t know too much about McCombs, Marshall, or Mendoza but they are solid schools for accounting. For Ibanking stick to the ivies or Wharton, Stern, Ross and McIntire. They generally like to recruit at those schools the most. Smeal does not have as good placement numbers, but if you can get into their Nittany Lion Fund and also maintain a solid GPA, you should get interviews. You will just have to reach out to recruiters yourself because I don’t think they have official on campus recruiting (unless that has changed now).
