Will have good over 300 hours of community service

I do not have any relatives that have attended Duke, but I will have access to many alumni recommendations, as well as teacher and guidance councilor recommendations.

I visited Duke this past year with my school, met up with one of my friends already attending Duke divinity afterward. I do not know what else to say other than I fell in utter love with everything about the school, not just the ambiance, the people, or the architecture, but the challenges and opportunities it creates. Although, it is not usual for someone to come from a school like mine in my opinion. Everyone around, even given my credentials, do not believe I even have a shot. I just want an honest opinion. Duke is my dream and any advice about what to do now while I'm only now leaving my sophomore year would be amazing!
Advice on ED also?

wrong forum

Talk about brutal, but the guy’s right.

Your EC’s seem pretty good actually. You have a nice mix of music, sports, and service, plus some leadership, which never hurts.

However, when it comes to grades and test scores, I think it’s too early to worry about that, especially when you haven’t gotten into junior year.

Spend the summer wisely. If you want advanced courses later (i.e. AP or IB) then enroll in online courses and take the tests elsewhere. You want to build up a strong class, because seriously, your school doesn’t sound very challenging if it doesn’t provide any advanced classes. Also take a few SAT II’s.

Thanks. I understand it is early. But, that is just me. I have to be prepared for everything. I just want to be a step ahead and make sure I am on the right track.

I appreciate your feedback!
