I’m wondering how the GPA is calculated. And whether it would be right to assume that my GPA is a 3.7 or 3.69? I havent asked my counselor yet?
For my freshman year, I had a GPA (rounded to 2 decimal places): 3.63
For my sophomore year, I had a GPA (rounded to 2 decimal places): 3.76
if you take the average, then that gives 3.695. Most of the places I have to put my GPA have only 2 places after the decimal, so would it be wrong to put 3.7? Also, I think if I round the freshman/sophomore GPAs to three decimal places, it would be a 3.69.
So, I’m just wondering: is the actual GPA calculated using 2 or 3 decimal places, and so would my GPA be a 3.69 or 3.7?
What does it say on your transcript?
Where are you putting your GPA?
I am applying for an internship at a company and they wanted my high school GPA (up till now). I dont have a transcript with my GPA written on it.
I would ask your guidance counselor how your GPA will appear on your official high school transcript. At my high school, the GPA is not rounded. It depends on what you need the GPA for. Honestly, I would ask your guidance counselor what to do because he/she probably has had students in the same position and tell you what they recommend.
GPA is not normally rounded
Taking the average only works if you took the exact number of credits each year. Regardless, most transcripts go out two decimal places, so match whatever is on your transcript.
