I'm a freshman college student and I've been having some trouble finding the perfect place for me so I was wondering if someone could help me out :)

So Fall 2013 I went to Ithaca College in New York for a Television/Radio degree but felt like the school was sitting a little too comfortable in its supposed communications reputation and it was 5 hours from home in New Jersey, so I decided to transfer over to Rowan University where I am now. However, (and I know it hasn't been much time) I feel like I can do much better than Rowan, as it feels like a drop from Ithaca, but I wanted to be closer to home. The communications department here is pretty small in comparison to other schools in Rowan and the technology is kind of outdated too. Plus, I don't believe the alumni is very strong and my degree will hold high.

So my question is, what about Temple University's communications department? Is it worth it to transfer AGAIN? Will it increase my chances of employment by going there instead of a smaller lesser known school like Rowan? (My advisor at Ithaca had no idea what school I was talking about.) I'm just very afraid of making a bad decision especially because I can't be switching schools so rapidly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated because I am definitely very scattered and confused as to what to do.
Also any other communication colleges around New Jersey that I should look into as well?

Oh and I don’t know how much these matter anymore, but I guess for the type of student I am… 3.7 high school GPA, top 25% of class. SAT 1620, ACT 24.

Honestly, I think that you were lucky to get into Ithaca’s communications department because it’s got a great reputation in the northeast (regardless of what you may have thought - you were a first semester freshman so your opinion may not have been all that informed, compared to professionals… however, no one can argue with your wish to be closer to home).
However the result is that now you’re likely to find programs that are one step down indeed.
The SUNY’s have a decent program, I think Oswego has the best one, Oneonta’s is pretty good too. Not much closer to NJ than Ithaca though.
As for transferring to Temple… have you visited? Do you know how much it’d cost? Tranferring to an OOS college is likely to be very costly (and you no longer have access to the best financial aid, which is reserved to freshmen; in addition, you’ll be OOS).
What about Rutgers?
What’s your current college GPA (at Ithaca? At Rowan?) Because your high school grades aren’t likely to matter as much as your college grades.
I don’t think you should transfer before next Spring anyway. Try to settle at your current university. You made a choice, try to make it work. If by mid February 2015 that choice seems to have been a mistake, you can reapply to Ithaca, look into Temple, and loook at other possibilities.

I would reapply to Ithaca. I’ve heard of some cases where students who have left and reapplied and were able to get decent financial aid. Their communications program is very good.
