Rowing at UPenn?

Do you have to be recruited for this? Is there a club/intramural equivalent for people who are interesting in rowing (but does not have any experience)?

I'm wondering the same! I really want to try for intramural crew but don't have any experience either.

There is no intramurla, crew here is only varsity. BUT you can definitely get on it as a walk on. It will involve INSANE amounts of commitment, but it if that is what you're into, you'll love it. Good luck

Don't forget about the Schukyll Navy either, u can rent time in a single their and row in 4's and Doubles, thats some of the best rowing in the nation. VESPER 4 LIFE!!!!

The men's crew teams are both garbage; women's crew is quite good. Neither is recruited for.

nodnard...do you go here? Both men's and women's recruit. However you can also walk-on. It does require the most commitment of all the sports though. If you look at a roster you'll notice that there are tons of freshman and then about two seniors- it's because everyone quits. Both of the men's teams this year are pretty bad, especially heavyweight, although in the past we've been quite a bit better. I don't know anything about women's.

Yes, I do go here; I'm a sophomore.

You may be right about crew recruiting, but everyone I know on Heavy and Light crew are walkons.

And if by "in the past" you mean 20 years ago, yeah, we were quite a bit better "in the past."

I have friends who were recruited for mens and womens crew.
