I am a coxswain, and I would love to go to Stanford. I was wondering how much colleges like rowing, and why they like it so much. Also, will crew help me get into Stanford, and by how much. Thank you.
Stanford got 42,487 applications this year and admitted just 2,144. Virtually all applicants have near perfect GPAs and test scores AND stand out accomplishments. The school is a reach for everyone.
As a perspective student, you need to stand out in that stack. Something like rowing may help, especially if your team competes at a high level but, it should be one of several activities you can point to.
