Stanford Recruit

Hi all. I’ve been talking to the coaches of my sport (non NCAA but varsity) for the last year year (junior, class of 2019). I was offered a spot last week over a phone call and received my application with the “pink envelope” yesterday. Does anyone know the success rate of these applications? Any horror stories of athletes who did not get in with the pink envelope?

High or you wouldn’t get this far, but probably not 100%. S went a different direction, but was told he was about 90%. I think he was a high athletic recruit so he would have gotten a lot of coach pull, but he was low academic.

The coach recruiting S was very willing to discuss this with us. I would suggest you ask the coach. He will probably give you an answer.

Congratulations! I went through the same process. As my coach told me (my sport is varsity but not NCAA) it is about 80 to 100%. I was also a bit afraid so I took my essays and application quite seriously. In my class the success rate was 100%.

Congrats to you too! Since you went through this process (wish I could PM you but can’t seem to) did you write about rowing at all on your application? How soon did you hear back after you sent it in?

My sport is not rowing, but I wrote stuff about my sport in my essay, although not in a bragging way but mainly how I combine it with my academic passion. Also I wrote only my biggest achievement in the achievements’ section of the application. I sent my application few days before the deadline and I heard back about 2 weeks later.
