Hello! This is my first post but I have been reading the drama related ones for quite awhile. Now I have a question, My daughter "made the short list" (their description not mine!) for the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. She fell in love with this school immediately at the audition. Something I never imagined as she had set her mind on another school in our area that she has had close ties with. They said in the e-mail that we would get a final decision on March 1st but have heard nothing either way. I would have preferred not to have been given a date at all but we are going a little crazy here. I have headaches from being on the computer! Is anyone else in the same boat? Thank you so much!

Hello,
I know that some rejections were sent out in early February, but I haven’t heard of any acceptances yet. When you heard this “short list” comment, was this at the audition, or did you have some sort of correspondence after your audition? When did your child audition? I haven’t heard anything at all since my audition and I am beginning to get a little restless to just get an answer – whether it is a yes or a no!

The same thing happened to my daughter last year when she auditioned as a walk-in in New York. I think she heard later than March 1st-- and then she was wait-listed. They do not take many Americans. The program there seemed terrific, a 3-year intense conservatory program. I asked a friend who has lived in Cardiff and apparently it rains-- a lot! I hope you hear some good news soon!

Good Morning! About two weeks ago evryone that my daughter knew, that had auditioned, recieved a rejection and then the next day she recieved an official e-mail congratulations that the had made the “short list” and they were waiting for the admissions team to return from the west coast and a final decision would be made at that time. At the end of the email it said in bold print’ “You will recieve our final decision on March 1st.” She is having trouble thinking about anything else! Thank you for your reply, and we are used to rain!

Sorry, I missed where I was asked when she auditioned. It was as a walk-in in Chicago Unifieds.

A school in the UK (like Royal Welsh) is going to do things quite differently from how USA schools do things.

For example, they will actually call their short list “the short list” and let people know that they are on it.

If they actually told you IN BOLD PRINT that you would recieve their final decision by March 1, and you haven’t heard from them, you may want to contact them and find out if there is a problem and maybe something got lost in international mail.

KEVP

I sent you a PM!

Monologue : Your message was a huge help! Thank you so much for taking the time to send it and best of luck to you! I would love to know what you decided. Unfortunately, I can’t reply to or send messages until I have posted 15 times. (this makes 2)

A big thank you!

I e-mailed the school’s office, and it seems that the school hasn’t made an admissions decisions for those that auditioned at the later auditions, which would explain the hold up on the decision. It could still be a while. Hold tight!

Has everyone filled out the offical application on line?

^ warblan, I accepted! :)

My son was admitted to RWCMD via an official email on March 8th. He was a walk-in audition in Chicago, and now we’re trying to figure out financing, the timing of the non-refundable 1000-pound sterling deposit due on 3/29 (and other schools are saying notifications ‘by April 1’, which is crazy-making), and what life will be like with him studying abroad for 3 years. No stress here!!!

Still waiting on CMU, Emerson, and UNCSA (although we got the ‘admit decision’ when checking that website, so here’s hoping!)
