4.0 uw/4.7 w
14 APs and 4-year varsity sport, extensive multi-year community service/internships completed, which have received regional recognition
Received Rensselaer Leadership Award and the Rensselaer Grant due to need.
Received better package at the University of Rochester where my daughter is a Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony Award recipient for demonstrating a commitment to understanding and addressing difficult social issues, so she has declined her acceptance at RPI. However we still highly recommend this school, especially for women in STEM.
Hopefully our decline will help someone else get off the waitlist if they’ve applied to SAS - School of Humanities, Arts, & Social Sciences. Good luck everybody!
Son accepted to CS with $18k merit. He has a 36 ACT and 3.9 uw GPA. His ECs are a mix of normal and artsy, MUN, NHS, DI, science Olympiad coach. Was hoping for more merit, at $72k cost, this school is likely NFW.
Accepted,
Oos white female, aerospace engineering

Son accepted. Science - undeclared. 4.0 UW, 1450 SAT, #1 in class, excellent EC (but non technical), decent essays. $21.5k merit. Did not apply for FA.
Status: Accepted
Major: Science, Undeclared (rejected from Physician/Scientist Program in December, took option of applying to School of Science tho on my Letter of Interest to confirm my interest in RPI I strongly implied I’d pursue something in biology lol)
Ethnicity: Indian
Gender: Female
Alumni Relation: my brother went to RPI
Financial details: can’t say specifically, but financial info submitted through FAFSA and CSS Profile is a bit outdated, kinda represents us as being able to pay more than we can rn, but we indicated the change in our financial situation on the Common App, so I guess RPI is already expecting that
Awarded Aid: didn’t get the letter yet, but I’m an RPI Medalist, so that’s at least $25k a year right off the bat
Submitted Test Scores: September 2017 ACT with Essay - 33 composite, 31 math, 30 science, 31 STEM, 35 English, 36 Reading, 8 Writing
Weighted GPA: 4.45 when I applied, dipped to 4.4 with midyear report and my school froze our GPAs after
Unweighted GPA: idk, our school doesn’t have that, but I was p much in the A to B range
Number of APs: 5 (took APUSH & AP Bio last year, got a 4 and a 3; taking AP Literature, AP Calculus BC, and AP Spanish this year)
Class Rank: 27/277 when I applied, 31/277 with midyear report and my school froze our class ranks after
ECs: 4 years Academic Decathlon (got some awards at regional and states level, Executive Board Member, involved teaching & training competitors), 2 years Science Olympiad (Secretary), 3 years Key Club (volunteering as general member and got school award), 3 years Students in Action (volunteering as general member), 2 years Junior State of America, 1 year Model U.N. (this year), 2 years Spanish Honor Society (including this year), 1 year National Honor Society (this year), learned religious prayers
Volunteering: at least 100 hours for sure from volunteering at the library and for school clubs
Employment Experience: worked in family business (math and reading center essentially) sporadically throughout middle and high school
Out of school: learned religious prayers
Results from Other Schools: accepted to Rutgers New-Brunswick (applied after deadline) but other than that no idea lol, Deferred from UChicago, didn’t make the cut for Johnson Scholarship for W&L, literally RPI’s the second definite decision I’ve gotten. I’m hearing from the rest throughout this month (tho I doubt I’ll get a lot of acceptances lol—but honestly I’m glad I got into a good school like RPI, so I’m good and not stressing too much).
Additional Notes: wasn’t sure whether I’d get accepted tbh. Not that I minded them, but I didn’t exactly take every AP class (or even every math & science class for that matter) in high school—in fact, I enrolled in a political/legal course my senior year which took up two periods, which partially caused that drop in GPA and rank.
waitlisted
SAT- 1380
WGPA- 4.0
UWGPA- 3.8
A+ capstone report
3 AP courses this year
Captian and president of many teams/clubs
really hoping I get in; it was my #1
@artist03 I didn’t get any either. It says financial aid will be released over the coming weeks, but it seems like many people already got theirs. Were you selected for verification?
I’d just like to say on here to anyone who didn’t get accepted and is feeling a little disappointed: my brother graduated from RPI, and he honestly says that while it is a good school, the only thing he remembers that truly gave RPI grads an advantage was the connections—but that’s not to say all is lost if you don’t get those connections from RPI! When he went on some really great internships, he found himself in the exact same place as people who went to great local universities and he was truly impressed by what those students accomplished at those universities! It’s been said often enough to almost sound like a cliche, but it’s true—where you go doesn’t matter half as much as what you put in!
Accepted for biochem;
GPA 3.97, SAT 1480, decent extracurriculars but nothing too mind-blowing so idk why i got $26,000 under the leadership award, but v grateful and excited for the opportunity!!!
