Honestly I am surprised he got in after reading all these kids amazing stats!! SAT 1260. WGPA 4.0. $14,5 award. He applied with Candidates Choice. He has his pilot license so maybe that helped?? Who knows but he’s stoked!! He’s just has bad test anxiety so he performs much better than he tests. Congrats to all!!
Hi everyone! I was accepted to Stevens with a $24k scholarship to the Quant Finance program. I was also accepted to the Macaulay Honors program at CUNY Baruch, which gives a full ride. My other options are: RPI Lally($23k scholarship) and Fordham Gabelli($19k Scholarship). I’m leaning towards Stevens but I’m just looking to hear from others.
@tiffy35 Congratulations! My s in similar situation of deciding Stevens vs RPI, both schools giving similar packages. After 2 visits to both campuses and after studying programs, campus housing, clubs, as a parent i think he would get a fuller college experience at RPI. It is my perspective that Stevens may be more of “commuter” feel. We will attend both acceptance days and he will make his final decision.I wish you the best of luck.Remember, these are good problems to have, choosing the college that is the best fit. You will ultimately succeed wherever you go if you put your heart and mind into it!
@tiffy35 Those are all exceptional programs and good job! I’m assuming you’re also from NYC - I went to HS in Brooklyn. Lally is a great school and RPI I’d say has the best college atmosphere/reputation out of those schools. It is a very personal decision though. If you have any questions about RPI or the program feel free to dm me.
Son accepted into computer engineering with a 21.5K leadership award , which I thought was pretty generous. Now agonizing whether to go RPI, USC, or UIUC. Son is leaning towards UIUC, but haven’t decided yet.
@student20002003 and @lovespink We just sent a letter with some new accomplishments that I had to my financial aid officer and the office of admissions. It took them 5 days to respond. So super quick!
My son committed yesterday. He knew after the accepted student day that he was going to commit but he still wanted to wait a couple of days to “mull things over”.
@limerick1913 I am so jealous your son made his decision…we are at Penn State, and my son still is so torn, but of course RPI has the best program out of all his schools…can’t wait for this to be over.
Anybody know what the VERY long line at Accepted Students Day for Financial Aid was all about? Can’t imagine how to actually resolve any issue in that setting – we also have a pending FA appeal letter. Their FA Office is pretty responsive on the telephone, couldn’t imagine waiting in that line if all they were doing was answering questions?
Was also impressed at ASD on Saturday how many people were lined up to pay their (non-refundable) deposit! I don’t know, is that kind of like writing a check at the supermarket checkout? We pay everything for our daughter on-line…
@RPIchemEson I really don’t think there was a difference. I paid online for my son a year ago, and all went well. Not sure why anyone would want to wait on a line to pay. I wonder if they were waiting to ask a question or something.
@MomNama I was shocked myself! I am glad it’s over. This process was exhausting lol Thank goodness there’s 10 years between my son and my daughter…won’t have to go through this process again for awhile lol
