Rsi 2007

hey everyone! I just wanted to say good luck! Admissions come out around the 31st right?
I haven't been keeping up with the RSI thread for 2007, but I see that a few of my fellow RSI 06 Rickoids have been answering your questions:)

Anywayz.....best of luck to all of you! It's truly an amazing experience....if you have any questions, feel free to ask. I'll answer to the best of my ability cuz I know how nervous you all must be:)

Thanks susah :) Not nervous, but certainly waiting with eager anticipation. BTW, how do we find out? Email or snail mail?

Snail Mail unfortunately, meaning people are going to get them at different times. I think I'm going to avoid this site like the plague when the last week rolls around...

even Alaska has a fair...
i guess i don't have an idaho pin then
one of my teachers just took a year off and went around Wisconsin promoting science fair

so .. are decisions sent around the 31st or should they be received around then?

well .. I'm in VA .. so I will probably be one of the first to know .. sigh .. I really hope I get in .. but I'm still not really expecting to ..

so .. I don't know ..sake of conversation .. .. anybody take SAT's last Saturday?

ummm .. ice cream.. its delicious .. why or why not?

ummm they are received around the 31st. yes, people get them at different times...one of my friends got his earlier and was rejected..which made me even more nervous so when I got my letter I stared at it for about half an hour before opening the envelope. yep.

Sorry about your thread dying, but you could never defeat TASP.

Ice cream is yummy because of the delicate interplay of cream, sugar, and sometimes chocolate.

I took the SATs.... math section was fun!

I too live in VA, so I guess well both be accepted/rejected hopefully on or before the 31 so we can go on with life.....

Vanilla ice cream rocks....

There are a lot of other fairs in northern Cali. Bah, it would suck if I had to wait until halfway through the first week of April to find out...

susah, what was your project and how did you do?

i applied for a physics/ math split and did a math project with an MIT grad student. My project involved game theory and a little bit of physics. It was a fun project but mine was definitely not the best project coming out of RSI>

btw...not everyone who gets accepted has done research. Also, many people don't use their RSI projects to enter into the research competitions, so don't get discouraged if you don't get in.

i cant believe tasp is on their 252nd page

what is tasp? ik i can just browse their thread or google it, but if people are bored enough, maybe they will explain in less than 10 words.

Telluride Association Summer Programs - humanities version of RSI (oversimplified explanation)

Hmmm...whenever i see TASP i always think taffy.

I regret not applying to TASP.

Yet, I'm really glad I applied to RSI, even though I, honestly, do not believe that I will be admitted.

If I am, I would be utterly shocked and confused. Haha. Elated, yet confounded.

This is what procrastination leads to, the reading of the RSI thread.
I've got some math for you Rickoids (and wannabes as well).

TASP thread >> RSI thread
the threads cancel out,
and .: TASP >> RSI =)

Happy posting!

wow, i can't believe all these supposedly great students are stooping so low as to actually compete for who has the better, longer thread.

aren't there much better things to do with our lives?

and if you're just one of those people coming over from the tasp thread to brag about it, i really could care less.

thank you much.

Spudman,
So how many Rickoids were among the Intel winners from last night? DS knows a couple of the top ten by reputation through various activities.

I find it interesting that so many RSI applicants get to ISEF so early. Around here, ISEF spots go almost uniformly to seniors who made STS semi-finalist or better. It's kind of an "eating your young" mentality since it means 9th-11th graders (who would really like the accolade) have virtually no shot, and the seniors are pretty well beyond the point of caring by mid-March.

YAY MARY MASTERMAN!

goes to show that us SSP Socorro kids ain't nothin' to mess with!
