i don't think it's surprising that an ISEF winner got rejected.
there are 4th-1st, grand, place winner and a lot of them too.
there must be quiet a few sophomores in there somewhere who are well enough informed to know about RSI.
and since i'm one of those "ISEF winners" and since i'm not going to make it, i better not be surprised

wah...i feel so inferior compared to you guys >_<

HAHAHA coolphreak XP anyone here do science olympiad? or are you all caught up in amazing research? :P

i do sci oly
circuits lab, physics lab, experimental design, sounds of music

me too :)
chem lab, write it do it, food science, disease detectives

to answer an ealier question...

3 Rickoids were top ten placers (1st, 3rd, and 7th) in Intel STS.

9 made the finalists. (would've been 10, had one of the guys decided not to go to rsi because of the international chem olympiad).

The ISEF winner was rejected before she had won, i believe. (clarification, please?)

i did science olympiad too. twas good times this year. circuits, physics, designer genes, 5 star science, remote sensing, astronomy

also play piano, for you instrumentalists out there.

Ecology Gold medal beating harriton and penncrest :D

oh yea, and gold medals in circuits, remote sensing, astronomy, and designer genes. :-)

oh man. everyone plays piano

we gotta have a concert when all of us get in
Rickoid in Blues. Rickoid Sonata. Rickcoid in F-sharp minor

go pianists. :)

for science oly, did designer genes, oceanography, sounds of music and experimental design :D

yay scioly!

we have yet to have our competition... actually it's on saturday, and i should either be in bed or studying, so i'll go do that. but i'm doing forensics, disease detectives, and i designed our robot.

spudmanKA, is it competitive in your scioly region? our region is probably the most competitive in the nation, considering two of our region teams have placed top in the nation

SciOly ... I'm doing designer genes, astronomy, 5-star science, and disease detectives. This is our school's second year at this contest, so as of yet we are still quite noob. :D

lolz...my school doesn't have any of this "scioly" stuff. thinking of it...my school doesn't have anything....lol

Lol, schools having stuff like SciOly can be fun and cool, but if your school doesn't do them, it's just as fine.

Are any of you guys (not just RSI applicants) going to National Science Bowl at the end of April? This is the first year I'm going, so I'm quite excited (last year my team only got 2nd place in regionals).

I guess I started the whole music thing, and I didn;t mention that Ive been playing piano since kkindergarden....and just recently picked up guitar(though I can only play pretty easy chords)......

But my fasvorite intstrument that I play...

Steel pans(drums) :) all theway!

My school doesn't do science olympiads :/

I took qualifier for Chem Olym last year, but didn't do any good (iono.. never got my score), never even heard of just straight up science Olympiad

sigh .. why do all you people have to be so good? .. I really want to get in .. and I doubt its gonna happen

thats ok as long as you didnt give up without a fight and you tried your best

what's national science bowl? sounds cool :)

I play clarinet, as my name indicates as well. R13 is a prestigious clarinet model and an institution in its own right.

Is it necessary to do ass crazy things like win olympiads to make RSI?

It's not necessary to do "ass crazy" things like win olympiads. Just gotta love science in a way that'll make them want you. (try to figure that one out, hehe)

and those of you who get in will be able to showcase all your lovely talents at the RSI talent show.
