i dunno know. i really really really * 10^100000 love MIT, but i'm waiting on my other colleges.

i don't actually remember getting any big package from cee. i think all correspondence after the initial letter of acceptance were by email, but i may be wrong. cee also has this habit of doing something different each year.

congrats to the Rickoids who got nice colleges, hurray for both MIT and Olin! (from whom I am still awaiting my Prospectus).

so .. this year 3 people from my school got into MIT (1 early, 2 regular) ad 2 that I know of where rejected (though 1 of the 3 is definitely going to Yale instead). This is exciting .. cause previously, in the last 13 years that its been around, my school has had only 2 people admitted to MIT total.. so a better precedent is nice

anyway .. waiting .. its DEADLY!!! DEADLY I SAY!!

so .. what are y'all's summer plans if (for some of us, when :-( ) you don't get RSI? (and yes I said y'all .. I'm from VA .. I do it occasionally)

personally, I am looking at VA governor's school research mentorship with NASA Langely and if I don't get that either probably an internship at either Raytheon, Some web design company, or maybe just working an ISEF project...

alohasam89: Yeah you!!! Stanford is amazing. i'm going to visit it at presfrosh weekend. what really sucks is that stanford's prefrosh weekend coincides with caltech's exactly, so i have to split up the week. i think the one thing pulling me towards stanford is that it's in california. i hate the cold.

hmm... if i'm not accepted to RSI...
i also applied to SSP. if i don't get into that, i'll start my sumac application. if i don't get into that, i'll apply for this UCI research thing. if i don't get into that... i fail at life

colleges... granted its a year off .. but I'm so conflicted:

I love MIT.. probably even more than Stanford .. but I just love being in the valley .. CA makes me feel so much more at ease .. granted I've only been tthere once for 3 weeks .. but I just felt it...

and thats not even throwing Mudd and maybe Olin into the mix

i know, it would be so cool going to college somewhere warm and sunny... doing homework outside!! :)

uh, there's an internship at the Medical University of Ohio that I'm gonna apply for if I don't get in.. hopefully counselor won't get ****ed if I request my transcript and stuff 2 weeks before the application's due lol

i love the UROP program at MIT. it makes it so easy to do research.
uggg..."they" say that the hard part about college is getting in, but i think choosing which college to go to is even harder.

10 more days or so until you guys find out about RSI!!!!
yeah!!!!!

elliott_j: true, but if you made the wrong choice of colleges, the fault is not yours. with college admissions, and even rsi admissions, it's a crap shot. you get some, you lose some. but if given the choice and you end up at a school you hate, and passed over the one you would have loved, you have no one to blame but yourself.
It's all hard to say.

Interesting how you guys talk favorably about Stanford. I live in the SF Bay Area, so people here either worship Stanford or consider it overrated. Not that I dislike the excellent Californian weather or think that Stanford is by any means "bad," but I'm definitely in the second camp. :D

Anyone applied to CCIS (ironically at Stanford) as backup for RSI? Their admissions decisions come out on 4/1, so I'm doubly nervous ... ><

Slashdot: can I hear some bad or overrated aspects of stanford? I live in WI and I have no connection what so ever. i'm the only person interested in stanford from my school. the stanford thread doesn't seem to bash it either. thanks

it depends on what you want in a college. i've heard that professors at stanford aren't as receptive to undergraduate researchers as professors at MIT. also, socially stanford is much more lad back. i don't know this for sure, but i've heard that there is a stigma against studying (ex: people study in secret because it's "not cool")
