I don’t think alphabetical because I got my reject at 4:46 yesterday on the East coast and my name starts with R
The deadline for sending an acceptance email is the 18th (for me), which is Wednesday, if that helps get some stress off people. A few more days ifor acceptances is reasonable.
This clearly has nothing to do with alphabetical order, result, or geography. It is a server issue. Those who have not received any email…what is your email type? And also those who have received. Please post. I have AOL and another friend who hasn’t received has yahoo. Perhaps this is the issue as I know this has happened before with server issues which clearly this is, since all emails were released from CEE server at approximately the same time window, but there is a huge disparity in the time of receipt–some taking up to 7 hours or not coming at all. Please all post if u received email or not and what is your email domain. Maybe we can figure this out.
Gmail, have not received email. Someone said earlier that they check all the emails going out again.
@qwerytiop how do u think they would do that? Not possible unless they query every single applicant with another email or phone call. No way to confirm receipt unless it’s the same domain. Lost in the black hole of cyberspace is lost. The sender would only see if something is undeliverable if it was an incorrect email address for that domain. Otherwise they will never know. I have seen this happen with large emails on government servers. The assumption by CEE will be that all emails were received unless they got a bounce back. If they have your correct email they will never know u did not get it and there is no way to confirm without contacting u directly.

I agree 1000% with jamini on this… you are absolutely correct in your understanding of how email servers work and fail. My info:

this is strange.hm…anyone want to reach out to maite?
I emailed her to tell her about me personally. If enough people email her to say they did not receive anything they would be more likely to investigate the problem. If you care about this you should inquire.
Did anyone get accepted from Indiana or Illinois ?
Could Accepted people post their stats please for future hopefuls?
I sent a postcard with my application, so I know for a fact that they received my application ._. idgi
@jamini There was a previous comment a few pages ago about someone saying they received the email with two different timestamps.
Rejected from Ohio… I applied to SIMR as well though so hopefully that goes well! Does anyone have suggestions on top summer research programs that haven’t closed admissions yet? Thanks!
@qwertytiop what they said was the email had a time stamp of 4:59PM when it was sent but she/he did not actually receive it from his/her server until almost 5 hours later (the second time stamp is what YOUR server puts on it when it is received, not the sender). When u look at emails, the time it was sent is not always the time you receive it, but you might not notice when there is a huge discrepancy. In this case it took 5 hours to travel through cyberspace to the recipient. For those who are still waiting, they are still traveling unfortunately, and sometimes they time out and never get to recipient. Emails get lost this way all the time. Unfortunately.
@yaytest33…sorry :(. Did you just receive that email today? Or yesterday?
It still shouldn’t have 24 hour delays though…
Anyone get response from Maite via gmail or phone all?
yesterday at 4:45 p.m eastern
Was anyone accepted from Indiana ? Or from Illinois?
Hi . Were you accepted ?
