@“Prestigious Nerd” They care about everything. Research experience is recommended and science activity/extracurriculars are also recommended. RSI isn’t shallow. If they care about test scores, then everyone would pretty much get in.
@gkdudtlffj I have a lot of stem extracurriculars, especially in computer science, but not too much research experience. But how can I stand out? Essays?
General Question— is knowing computer science essential to getting in? Is it possible to get in if you don’t have much experience? (The extent of my knowledge is getting a 5 on the AP CS test lol)
@“Prestigious Nerd” I mean the recommendations due date, is this what you mean? Jan 12 is the application deadline.
Is anyone here applying as an international? According to the website we should contact Ms. Ballestero. I did that but she said that only students from the Newfoundland region are eligible to apply? I thought there are about 30 spots for internationals. Anyone have experience applying without US citizenship/green card? Thanks.
Does anyone know if the recommendation letters are due at the same time as the application?
@space2073 International students at RSI are from countries that participate in the RSI program, and the selection process for these students is managed by groups in each of the participating countries. International students do not apply directly to RSI, they can only apply through their home country organization. The roster of participating countries varies from year to year. Some additional details here: https://www.cee.org/sites/default/files/documents/apply_to_rsi.pdf
@tdy123 Thanks. I understand that. But according to that link, I should contact Ms Ballestero to confirm that my country participates and she will put me in contact with my country’s organization. However, I was told that I have to be from the Newfoundland region. I don’t understand that. How is the Newfoundland region even relevant?
I was told it was Jan 17 for recs, but two of my references told me now that its the 11th?? who knows
^boyyy does someone want to take one for the team and email Ms. Ballestero to check because my references will definitely not be ready by the 11th
@ham4greys Same here. I email info@cee.org with that question and said that all materials are due on the 12th (includung applications, I assume; however, I’d like to believe that’s false ). Then, three days ago, I replied to the reminder from Maite with the same question again, but she hasn’t written back yet. Oh man…
^^ Bump. When do the teachers have to submit the recs by??
And where did anyone find the Jan. 17 deadline?
im doing much better in my classes this year (as a junior) than freshman or sophomore year. but my final grades wont come out until after application deadline. am i allowed to submit the grades i had for the second marking period? its not offically on my transcript yet tho and if so what section do i put it in?
also does it look bad if i submit a qualifying amc score but not an aime score? (i did badly on the aime)
All 3 recommenders for my son told him the letters are due by Jan 17.
Wait this is REALLY bad. This is the response I got from them after emailing them: “All documents required in the application, including transcripts and letters of recommendation are due on the prescribed deadline date of January 12th.”
@yucca10 R u sure???
I’m freaking out, because I’m 99% sure my teachers won’t have the recs in before the 12th.
Checked again and it’s only 2 of them said so but still. Could there be a mistake on Slideroom? Maybe somebody should write again telling them that Slideroom says Jan 17.
All I am sure about is that recommendations are due a couple of days after the student application.
