RSI Chances?

I just sent in my application for RSI, and I'm kinda wondering if I have a chance or not (compared to other kids applying of course)

Scores:
SAT I: 800 Math, 770 Writing, 700 Critical Reading
SAT II: 800 Math II, 770 Bio, 720 Chem

ECs:
Math Team, New England Champions
Varsity Tennis Team, State Champions
Robotics Team, Treasurer, 4th place in national competition
Debate Team

AP Classes:
Calc BC
Physics C
Bio
Comp Sci A (Can program in Java, C, and python)

Research Experience:
Worked in Tufts research lab for past 2 years, helped out doctoral student with his research and did some of my own. Specifically researched flexible inductive coils for sensing applications.

I really have no idea whether or not I will get in, will someone please bring me back to reality???

u have some low sat II’s scores (relatively i mean), and little competition experience. the research will definitely help, although the coursework isn’t as rigorous as other applicants would be. Depending on your state, I would say you have a decent chance at scoring a spot or very little chance at all

That’s disappointing. I’m from Massachusetts, which is probably an extremely competitive region. I guess I should start applying to other programs, no chance at RSI :P.

Also I was part of the Eastern Mass ARML team, but we didn’t do that well. What exactly do you mean when you say competition experience?

I can’t get any more rigorous with coursework at my school. I had to jump through a ton of hoops to get the AP classes I’m taking and have taken.

By competition experience, I mean success in the usamo/usamo/usacho, etc.

Hmm, then don’t worry about coursework then. RSI definitely evaluates based on what opportunities are avaible for you at your school. However, many students do accelerate in math, taking university level courses in high school.

Of course, that’s just one thing they’re looking for. If you have strong essays showing intense passion, that’s probably the most important.

I wouldn’t expect to be a shoe in, but at the same time, I wouldn’t count myself out so quickly. It all depends on the essays, though the stats help a lot for the material
