Any news on the RSI waitlist as of yet?

what the heck is RSI

you haven't been on this board for long if you don't know what RSI is.

RSI is a free 6 week summer research program offered by the Center for Excellence In Education. It will be held at MIT this summer, as it has been for 20+ years. Last year they also held it at Cal Tech and it will be held there again next year I believe. Usually 50 American and 20 Int'l students attend the MIT program. The students do a resarch project. Many of the students go on to win awards and national science fairs. You can learn more at the CEE site. http://www.cee.org/rsi/index.shtml

nope...no news yet...

This might be a little off topic, but wasn't RSI held at both campuses last year? And if so, why not this year?

they are renovating the dorms at caltech so there weren't any spaces available.

(and cause MIT is a far better place to have RSI =)

My friend might not be going, he called a few days ago and said they could give his spot away. I guess they DID NOT want to do this and they're going to try to make accomodations though.

ya CEE is pretty lenient with making accommodation.

how many ppl do u think they will accept from the waitlist?...also, what happens with ppl that make mop and rsi, can they do both, or do they have to chose? I am on the waitlist and I HOPE I MAKE IT!!! I would love to go. They said mid-may, rite?

static...share some of ur knowledge abt rsi waitlist with us plz.

yes pleaz!

whoa whoa whoa RMAC, what could be more important than RSI to your friend...?? And doesn't having it at Caltech ruin the prestige sort of since there are more people that get it?

prestige? in my humble opinion, prestige is a non-factor when it comes to RSI. Its the experience and the education one receives at RSI which sought after, that same experience can be offered at Caltech. Anyone that chases RSI because of something silly like "prestige" should be looking elsewhere....

I think having it at Caltech would have been good. Hopefully they'll reinstitute that after the dorms or whatever are finished. It gives more people, who would be qualified anyway, the chance to have the experience of a lifetime. It's not as though they'd be lowering their standards because enough excellent, talented, amazing students apply anyway.

has anyone heard anything yet about the waitlist??

no, i havent heard yet.

idk, said friend has been doing MOP since 8th grade, but this is the first time that he looks like hell be in good shape for IPhO. I guess if you make the ipho team, you have to compete - it overlaps with a few days of RSI

so couldn't he just miss a day or 2 of RSI?
