So after digging around through cal grants requirement seems like i need to get either an HS diploma/GED to qualify for it. I remember taking a test in my senior year but i'm not sure if it was the CAHSEE or CHSPE or either @@ which i think also qualifies as an equivalent. Lastly last week I during the UC financial aid thing on collegelive I asked a couple of the reps. from different ucs about it and they said for blue and gold it's not required if you are transferring from a CC. So at the moment i'm stump on the situation.

Also is it possible to take the ged within the month and pass without covering most of the material. Which i assume is just history, english, math, and etc

From what I understood the only requirements had to do with college gpa.
So you have no diploma, because I think that may be a problem for transferring?

I’m not sure. The CHSPE and the CAHSEE are two completely different exams and are not treated as equivalents. You need to pay to take the CHSPE, but it’s only one test and all it focuses on is math and English, which makes it easier than the GED, but it’s only (legally) valid in California.

I got my certificate of proficiency from CHSPE so i wouldn’t know if you can get the calgrant w/o it. My advice would be to call the calgrant people and officially see what they have to say about it.

I can only answer on the GED part. It’s very easy and it shouldn’t take more than 2 weeks to prepare for it. If you need more information regarding the test feel free to PM me

I took the CHSPE but never had to prove it when I registered at CCC. I received a Calgrant B (competitive and merit based) after completing one semester at CCC with a 4.0. If you are straight out of high school it might be different, considering you can probably qualify for Calgrant A (which I did not qualify for).
