Ruined mychances of getting a full scholarship to UTD

I'm still a sophomore in high school but I'm afraid that I have ruined my chances of getting a full scholarship to the University of Texas at Dallas.I got a C for my Academic Decathlon class it is a 72 but my end of semester average is still an 81. I am afraid that that C has ruined my chances of getting a full scholarship to UTD, has it? And if you got a full scholarship to UTD, what your transcript like? Thank you.

I have a friend with somewhere between 2 and 5 overall B’s getting a full ride at UTD. What’s your overall situation? One B- won’t ruin the entire thing; it depends on how well you’re doing elsewhere.

I think as long as you can pull off National Merit Finalist status, grades won’t matter anyway.

Well I’m only a sophomore, and this will be my first C in my high school career. And ok thank you so much for the insight. I will be working hard during the summer to enusre that my SAT and ACT scores are high

getting a 2000+ on your SAT automatically qualifies you for a full ride to UTD.

@vs1997‌ Is acceptance automatic under those conditions as well?

@dividerofzero‌ you don’t have to get a 2000+ to get in automatically. These are the criteria according to the UTD website; top 15% OR CR+M=1200. The thing is if you get a 2000+ then you are qualified for a full ride.

Ok thank you guys so much this has helped a lot. And @dividerofzero‌ for UTD and any other public school in texas, acceptance is automatic if you are in the top 10% of your class, this is I believe only exclusive to texas residents.

If you are a sophomore, please, refrain from using this site. Wait til the end of junior year. It will drive you mad all of your junior year when you see the tons of chance Me’s (which are at times fake) for HYPSM. Just stay focused. One C won’t kill you. If you feel it is really necessary, explain it in your application. Other than that, just keep your grades up and get good test scores.

Yeah the top 10% rule comes out of the 75% law (but it’s top 7% for UT-Austin, probably going down to top 6% in the next few years unless the law gets scrapped).

@vs1997, where are you getting your information about automatic full rides (meaning every college expense paid) at UTD based on SAT scores? There aren’t any scholarships like that according to the UTD website.
http://www.utdallas.edu/enroll/financialaid/freshmen.php

I have spoken with Admissions officers for UTD, and it is not listed on their website, however a composite of 1300+ or 2000+ overall qualifies you for any of their scholarships; especially qualified for a full ride. @ScienceGirlMom‌

Good luck @vs1997.

1300 SAT is only slightly above average for UTD. That will not warrant a full ride.

The full ride scholarships to UTD are McDermott Scholars (highly competitive) and National Merit Scholarship.

The AES are described here:
http://oue.utdallas.edu/aes/

Average SAT for the best one (which is close to a full ride) is 1510.

Average SAT for the Achievement level (partial tuition) is 1310.

@AnnieBeats‌ thanks for the advice. I guess I’m just a bit paranoid about my grades. Thank you all for replying it was really helpful!
