Will I get a full scholarship into UTD?

I got a 1650 on my PSAT and I'm getting 650 for math and 660 for reading on SAT Practice tests. Also, I'm a dual credit student, meaning I'm completing 2 years of college in high school. My high school GPA is 4.0 and my college GPA (since I'm taking college courses) is 4.2. I'm mostly an all A's student. I have a little above 60 volunteering hours, and my class rank is 15/40 (I go to a small school). I'm also a committee head in Student Council. I'm in AP Math and Physics. I'm a resident of TX as well. I'm a junior right now and I'm taking my SAT in June of this year, and hopefully I'll apply to UTD early (Sept/Oct 2012) to try to better my chances of getting a full scholarship.

My brother got a full scholarship into UTD with a $2,000 Stiepen if that will help me get a scholarship into UTD in any way....?

I was wondering if anyone with scores close to mine got accepted with a full scholarship? I'm looking for a full scholarship that covers all tuition fees. I don't really mind whether I get a Stiepen or not but I would like to.

Any advice as to how to better my chances of getting a full scholarship into UTD would be appreciated =)

Well my cousin currently attends UTD on a full ride and he had high SATs arround the same amount your scoring on practice tests. I’m not sure about his classes, but he went to a large school with not so bright people and him being smart got him ranked high. So, you probably have a chance.

Trying taking the ACT as well. From what I’ve seen UTD likes high scores (for the ACT or SAT).

It’s called a stipend…

According to the UT-D website, to get the larger scholarships it looks like your SAT may need to be higher.

I didn’t see the “free rides”…I saw some “free tuition” scholarships. That is not the same as a free ride, because free tuition doesn’t cover room and board, etc.
Maybe the NMFs get free rides, but your PSAT isn’t high enough for that.

OP,

it looks like you need to improve you test scores. If you are a junior you still have time to do that.

With your GPA and given that you are in AP math (Calculus ?), there is no reason for you to score 650. You are either making silly mistakes or lack practice. Did you go back to analyze what kind of mistakes you made on the test? Did you practice prior to the test? I bet if you read some test strategy books and practice you can do much better next time.

The same probably applies to CR and W portions of the test.

If you plan to take ACT, keep in mind that Science section is more about reading and interpreting graphs than it is about Science. While my son completely bombed that section in 6th grade (through Talent Search competition) because he could not even imagine answering those types of questions, next year he did pretty decently after realizing that the most important information is displayed in tables and graphs that accompany Science questions.

Improvement of SATs can come from practice practice practice. Take as many practice test that you can get your hands on…then try to learn from your mistakes.
