Rush 2013

I hope that this is the right place to post this, but I'll continue on regardless. I am going to be a freshman in the fall of 2013, and I want to rush. Does anyone know what date(s) this will fall on? Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated! I know classes start September 3rd, but the first football game is the weekend before that, so my main concern would be that rush falls before my "move in" date.

Rush is generally the first two or three weeks (With welcome week parties being the biggest rush events). If you’re interested in rushing, you go to those parties and tell one of the brothers you’re interested in rushing, they’ll point you to the rush chair for that semester.

You won’t miss rush because of a late move in date, but you may miss a few of the welcome week events. You can move into the dorms early and just pay ~$20 for every extra night if you want to ensure you don’t miss anything.

Is this the same for Transfers?

Thanks so much KyleTwentyEleven. I probably should have specified I’m a girl, but I’m somewhat familiar with the process from friends doing it so I know it will be roughly the same for sororities.

And when I say roughly the same, I mean concerning the timeline of events. (I hope I’m correct here!)

If you’re a girl then you just have to sign up for rush and there’s a big formal process. Much different for guys.

MMM1994, for girls, since rush is highly competitive, you should ask friends/adult friends of your parents/alumni to write recommendations for you to various sororities at Michigan. The information about recommendations is available on every sororities’ national website. I’ve personally written several recommendations for incoming freshman to my sorority at various universities. Are you a legacy in any sorority? If so, that will also help you get closer consideration by sororities. Legacies and recommendations are no guarantee, but again, they will earn you extra consideration by sororities.

This link should help you.

This past September, sorority rush events started right when classes started:
