Rushing as a Sophomore?

I'm a current OOS freshman at UT, and I decided not to rush last year because I didn't know anyone or anything about UT's sororities. Do a lot of girls rush their sophomore year? Do the sororities look down on that?

Yes, they look down on it. Try to meet some girls, but its way better as a freshmen. Some sororities don’t care as much but I know the big 6 prefers freshmen.

they don’t really look down on it… remember a lot of students are part of the CAP program and therefore a lot of girls and guys rush their sophomore year. most sororities and fraternities have a sophomore quota to meet. you’ll be fine :)

They look down on it, unless you already know many of the people in the house from high school or otherwise.

It won’t matter as much anywhere you want to be, if a house won’t take you because you’re a sophomore, then its not really the place you want to be anyway. With guys rushing as sophomores is a lot more common, but I have met a few girls that rushed as sophomores and are perfectly happy with their choice. Just be here when they start girls rush in the summer and you’ll have a great time.
