I decided not to rush a sorority freshman year because I wanted to get used to college first and I didn't think I really wanted to join one (all I knew about were the negative stereotypes). But now that I've been at SC for a while and gotten rid of the stereotypical view I used to have of sororities, I really want to rush. I've heard that it's really hard for sophomores to get into houses and that most houses will take decent freshmen over great sophomores. Is this true? Should I even bother rushing?

i'm trying to rush as a Senior...i heard its possible but Frats may differ...they would want someone in the House for all 4 years...hope this is not written in stone

Not true at all. I have been told by friends in sororities that there are a lot of sophomores and juniors that are selected in the rush process. I actually think it's better for a student to rush in their sophomore year than freshman year.

You can also rush in the spring of your freshman year (we have two spring rush every year)

Do all of the frat/sorority houses participate in spring rush? If not, which ones do?

From my knowledge, not all sorority houses participate in Spring rush. Usually when sororities don't fill the quota during Fall, they'll open their house for Spring rush.
