Rushing frats and gay

Would rushing a frat be a bad thing in my situation? Would it get in the way of study? I'm not sure if I should since a fraternity usually requires a lot of time as a pledge and I'm pre med. Will it affect med school admissions? Thanks for your input.

Slow down: too many questions! I’ll try to muddle through: frat and gay? I guess my question would be: Isn’t the point of joining any fraternity to find community with a bunch of brothers? Wouldn’t you shop around until you found the right one? Given that, at Yale, there’s not as many options as other schools but it wouldn’t surprise me that you’d find some options that are welcoming to gay pledges. I’m pretty sure there’s not any predominantly gay frats at Yale, however.

Lots of frat guys at Yale take pretty demanding courseloads – pre-med track or not. Many are varsity athletes or heavily involved in ECs – yet maintain both their frat affiliation and their GPA. It’s just a matter of balance. It’s up to you.

I mean… if you can manage your time well, anything’s possible.
