I'm a freshman right now and i have some questions about frats. I didn't rush in the fall because I wanted to slowly get aquainted with college in general first. I've made a lot of frriends on my floor, and I've also gotten along very well with guys who did pledge fall quarter. I feel like frats are a very unique experience and the frat guys that I talk to highly recommend rushing. However, some times I'm a little put off by the occasional obnoxious nights when they would come back late at night wasted.

I drink and like to party in moderation, and would really like to join a frat. I was planning on rushing spring quarter but I feel like it would be kind of awkward. I feel like I would be ditching the friends that i have become close with who aren't in frats and it would be awkward as they sometimes make fun of the frat guys (some of my friends are like anti-frat).

One of my biggest questions is: Is it weird/not recommended to rush as a sophomore? I feel like I would be more comfortable rushing next fall. I made some friends, including my rooomate, who are in SigEp and it's definittely a frat that i would like to rush.

please weigh in with your thoughts.
