I want to send my scores to Cornell and other schools today (Jan. 1 deadline), but I don't know if I should rush my scores. I heard that when I send them regularly, the schools get them electronically within a week, which may faster than rushing them. Should I rush the scores?
I am also sending score reports twice, once now, once at the end of January since I am writing on the January date. If the school has it's SAT report deadline on Jan.1 (Amherst, for instance), am I doing the correct thing by sending the scores twice? I want to make sure that my schools at least get the older scores.

As far as I know, there is no reason to rush scores to schools that receive them electronically. I visited Amherst and one of the admissions officers confirmed this. The ACT site does not even allow rush delivery as an option for schools that receive them electronically which would leave me to believe that there isn’t any variation when applied to the SATs.

As for sending two sets of scores, that is definitely the right thing to do. Unfortunately, depending on which schools you are applying to, they might not be able to consider your second set before they evaluate your application. However, sending them anyway is the safest way to go.

Thank you very much for the fast response! Am going to send my scores today, without rushing them, I hope they will get there in 3 days…

No problem! I tend to use this site as a tool for procrastination. Rather than writing my college essays, I’ve been spending a ton of time here. Hah.

Submit them and then don’t worry about it too much. I was recently reading a book written by a Dartmouth admissions officer of ten years (or something like that) and she said that it takes weeks on end just to get the applications sorted. She says that you could probably send an application in two weeks late and they wouldn’t know because they just sit around in a huge bin. I’m obviously not advising this, but maybe it will calm your mind a bit.

Does Rush Shipping only apply to those schools who receive the scores by mail or does it mean that the scores will be processed faster?

this info is probably too late for you but i called college board the other day and the difference with rush reporting is that its processed much more quickly than the regular option. but honestly, as long as you sent them now regardless of which option, they will get the schools in a timely fashion so you’re fine!

I did a retake December as a standby and I have yet to receive a registration confirmation. I contacted Williams telling them my SAT scores may not be available until past the 1st Jan Deadline, and they said it’s fine. I guess that means you shouldn’t worry so much about it.
