Hi guys, i was recently applying to rutgers university and on the application it says whats the recent time you took the sats and then the planned date? if i only took the sats once and didnt take it again nor i put a date in the box of the planned date, will it affect the college decision. in other words does it matter to colleges if you take the sats only one time and not two times ? I got 1580 which is about the range for this college. Its just im not sure whether i will be able to put in the time again and start studying all over again. Thanks in advance

In the event that you plan to take it again (or for the first time), they want to know. Let’s say you plan to take it in January, then if they don’t have your scores by Jan 1, they know they are coming.

If you are not planning to take it again, then just leave it blank. Then, they will expect to have your scores by the Due Date.

So colleges don’t look at how many times u took the sat ? It doesn’t matter to them if u only took it once ?

Some colleges want ALL scores. Some will take whatever you send them. Most will “look” at all scores, and use the best. If you only take it once and are happy with the score, then that is fine. There are stories about kids who take it a lot of times (more than 5). I think that looks bad.

IMHO: All else being equal (not sick, etc.) you will naturally do better the second time. Materially better? Who knows. Since you have done it before, you should be slightly faster at answering the questions.
