Im a clueless dad. My daughter has a callback at Rutgers for BFA acting. My daughter had told me to NOT try and help her. Iam now secretly trying to help her. The call back is from 8am-6pm. She initially auditioned in Chicago and was waitlisted. Im wondering if anyone has any info on what to expect at this callback. Is their a more in depth audition or interview?? thanks!
First off, Congratulations to your daughter! Is she going to the call-back weekend? If so it is a two day affair where the kids stay with current students. My daughter received an invite to the call back weekend last year which consisted of the kids doing their monologues, some movement work, seeing a play and getting to meet people. Either way, it will be a very intense day – make sure she has snacks, water, and is comfortable taking adjustments to her monologues. Break a Leg!
@4moreyears123 I giggled when I read your post. What a good dad. So callback weekend already occurred - my S had a conflict on callback weekend and declined but indicated he was still interested in being considered and was invited to come for the day, similar to what you are describing. Is she going this Friday by chance? They indicated the same 8 to 6 time frame and said he would be attending class, shadowing a student and doing his monologues for the faculty. They sent email guidelines about the monologues that were the same guidelines as callback weekend. I vaguely remember they asked that you do the same monologues you first did in your audition. It sounded pretty low key and most of the time was attending class and such. I would be prepared for an interview. But most of the time the faculty are wonderful so try not to stress too much for her. Good luck to your daughter!!
Hey! I’m a freshmen BFA actor at Rutgers. From what they told us, it’s not going to be that crazy, they’ll be doing their monologues again and sitting in on a few classes. Should be a pretty good time! Shoot me a message if you have any more questions!
