Rutgers Business School Requirements?

Hello everyone, this is a question for anyone that got into the business school. I’m currently a junior in high school and I just got back a 32 on the ACT (~2130 on SAT), and a 10 on the essay. I have a 4.0/3.7 weighted/unweighted GPA, and I was wondering what my chances of getting in are?

The main reason I’m worried is that I don’t have a lot of extracurricular activities, so I’d really appreciate it if anyone that got in can tell me how my academics are looking, and what I can do to make my application stronger.

Thanks in advance.

My son got direct admit to business school with slightly lower stats. He also took tests as a junior (31 ACT, 2040 SAT, 3.6 unweighted gpa) and only submitted those. He did however have many extracurricular activities, varsity sports, clubs, honor society, 3 years of Mandarin language and 5’'s on AP exams, held a job and an internship. I believe they look at the whole resume not just academics but your stats are very impressive and should have no problem.

I recently commited to the Rutgers Business School and new Honors College with around the same stats as you. I would have to say that extracurriculars are pretty important but don’t be incredibly worried if you have a few less activities than others. Rutgers is such a large school that it is hard for them to look at every application and the extracurriculars, meaning there is an emphasis on grades and scores since they are easier to compare between many students. Even on the College Board website Rutgers has extracurriculars listed under “considered” rather than “very important” in respects to the admissions process.

Just keep in mind that scores alone cannot guarantee your acceptance.

If you are looking for things to “beef up” your application, clubs and community service are great opportunities. If you are already struggling with academic workload, look for clubs such as FBLA which aren’t huge time commitments but demonstrate your interest and dedication to the field of business. Community service is also great, especially in the summer. Ask friends if any of them are going on mission trips and see if you can go, or just find local nonprofit organizations to help. This helps show you are making a positive impact in your local community.

I honestly think you won’t have a problem getting in. Just maintain your grades and don’t slack off senior year
