If you have any questions regarding university, I will try to help! Please check rutgers website first if there is an answer to your question.

Hey!

Do you need to have a lot of extracurricular activities to get into the business school? What was your SAT score and GPA? I’m pretty sure Rutgers looks at your weighted (not unweighted) GPA for admission, right?

Thanks!

BTW do you go to the Newark business school or New Brunswick?

I got to New Brunswick. I am an international student from Europe, and I was in IB program in high school so I did not really have a GPA. I had 33 points in it. My sat was 1980.

As far as I know from undergraduate admission office, you don’t have to have an awful lot of ECs - But it is still good to have some. And yes, Rutgers looks more on your weighted GPA.

How competitive is transferring into the business school as a sophomore? I have a class I’m struggling in that I am thinking of dropping, will that negatively affect my transcript?

Sophomores is the biggest group transfering into the business school. It is because this is the time when people not originally admitted to the business school are done with the prerequisits for declaring a major and they try to get in. Therefore it is competitive to get in as a sophomore.

Dropping a class every once in a while is not a problem as long as you drop it and get a W on the transcript. Nobody cares about W on transcripts, if you don’t have one every semester.

Hi,

I’m transferring there in the spring and I was wondering if you knew any transfers. I’m worried about dealing with how big the school is and also just making friends. I attended Drexel University and easily made friends as a freshman. I have heard that its much harder to “fit in” (so to speak) as a transfer. Thanks!

Do you enjoy it? I’m trying to get in with a 3.37gpa and 1740SAT.
Did you receive any scholarships?

@Prakriti
I know a couple of people who transferred here either from other university or community colleges. They have absolutely no problems making friends. They join clubs, fraternities, organizations just like the students in their age that started Rutgers as freshmen here. So you are not disadvantaged just because you are going to be a transfer student. There are literally hundreds of clubs to join, so everyone finds something !

@ArchLiving
I absolutely love it. Your stats look OK, depending on what you apply to. I did not receive any scholarships, because I am an international student, and Rutgers doesn’t offer anything for ‘us’. Good luck! Let me know how it goes.

Sorry for bumping, but are delivering presentations a large part of the curriculum?

walking dead not a large part, but a few classes will require (usually group) presentations.

Do you know anything about criminal background checks. I was arrested but haven’t been convicted. Its still ongoing. Im debating whether to put it on my application or to just say no to all questions pertaining to that. I understand that there are certain schools within rutgers that require criminal background checks but to my understanding the SAS and Business school don’t require it. So I guess my question is if I applied without disclosing the information is there really any chance that Rutgers will find out if I don’t get into any trouble at all while I’m there. I’m just nervous because Rutgers is my top choice and if I get rejected over a stupid mistake I’m probably going to hate myself for a while lol

I’m a transfer student I don’t know if that would make any difference

What questions pertain to it?

“Have you ever been convicted of a felony, misdemeanor, etc” which i can truthfully answer no since it is till ongoing and “Are you currently in a situation where you may be convicted of a felony, misdemeanor, etc?” which i don’t know what to put because if I say yes then i have to fill out a disclosure form where I have to explain everything and then I have to pay for a background check. So Im just wondering if I say no they wouldn’t do a background check right? I just would like to avoid disclosing the information if I know that they won’t look into it considering its going to be expunged by the time I’m done with school

I don’t think anyone here can advise you properly

If you have a lawyer, I would ask her for her opinion on what to do before you proceed.

If the matter will be decided in the coming weeks, I would hold off applying until it is resolved. You still have some time to wait.

I was a transfer student accepted into the Rutgers Business School, but declined in favor of SAS (BIG mistake). Now, I want to get back into the Business School. I will have about 40 undergrad credits in SAS with about a 3.5 GPA by the time I re apply. I will have mostly liberal arts courses taken and have taken Calc 2 and Stat 1 and earned a C…yes I know not good. Do you think I can get back in?
