Rutgers Chances?

Hi there, I'm applying to Rutgers and wish to attend the Business School on either the Newark or New Brunswick campus. However, my grades aren't up to par (another way of saying absolutely dismal) and I'm afraid I don't have many ECs. I plan on writing a compelling essay and have somewhat above average SAT scores, but can they compensate at all?

Weighted GPA: 2.89

SAT: 1960 (first time, retook the October 1 and am hoping I achieved over 2000 at least)

ECs: 2 years of Track, participation in an ecological club

sats are good but gpa not so much…maybe newark?

Thanks for the reply. Anyone else? I know I’m really not offering much to work with so feel free to lay down some harsh reports.

Your SATs are good, especially if you are able to get them over 2000 with your retake. It’s just your GPA that is low, but you have a shot at Newark I’d say!

Bump. Anyone else?

Would I get in? I have a 3.75 GPA which might go up since i’m take more honors this year. Plus I’m the county rep for red cross and secretary for the artist union club and i’ve been playing on the rec soccer team for 4 years. I have more than a 100 hours of community service. i took the PSAT and i only got 1300. I just started my junior year so of course i can try to improve my SAT score. I wanna try to go to the rutgers in new brunswick to be a nutritionist

k2 you’ve posted this a couple times, why not start your own thread?

A “B” average and decent SATs should get you into SAS. Does your school have a guidance dept website? Sometimes they will have info about who got into various colleges by stats (GPA and SAT). When you see how many people get into Rutgers you won’t worry so much.

nantes your GPA is a bit low for the Business school but it’s not a problem. If you get into SAS, you can take your pre-business courses and transfer in later. Or, you can go to community college for a year and transfer in later. You must have a minimum 3.0 to stay in the Business school so I am guessing your GPA would need to be higher than that if you’re attempting to transfer in. It will depend on your competition at the time.

No one can give you a certain answer. If you get a great SAT score, it may overcome your GPA and get you in. We can’t predict because every year the new group applying has different statistics. You may get lucky.

I think you are definitely in for Newark business. But hit or miss for NB business

Thanks again everyone. I just got back my October 1 scores, got a 2010. Superscored, my SAT score is 2060. Does this change my chances at all?

Bump. I’m sure that the GPA is weighted more heavily over the SAT but would the scores compensate for it at all?
