Rutgers Fall 2010 Transfer students

Star day like mentioned above is when you make your schedule, i believe you get invited to star day once your final transcript is in, for example once i send in my transcript for this semester i should receive my invite, hopefully!
My sister gave me a tour of the school since she goes to rutgers too

UCCboii- i feel exactly the same. My HS gpa was 2 btw

Haha I had the same exact thought when I saw that mine was also reviewed

After waiting almost three months I was denied to NB which the lady at admissions already told me I probably would be and to reapply in spring. I had 3.42 GPA with only 12 credits at community college & a 2.95 GPA in high school. Good luck to everyone else! Hopefully Iā€™ll be at Rutgers next spring :/

Iā€™m sorry to hear that transferRU. I think you just need more credits under your belt because your college GPA is good. On the other hand, I have finally heard back and been accepted to Rutgers. I got in to SAS, NCAS, SOE, and School Management and Labor Studies. I never heard anyone even applying to that last one, but I did because I could. Iā€™ve already paid my deposit and claimed my spot in SOE. My previous hypothesis that the status screen updates everyone at midnight was wrong; My status updated some time between 9:45 and 11:27 so thereā€™s probably no one time it updates for everyone. What I would like to know is when will I get my credits evaluated, when will I get a financial aid letter and how much is the housing deposit? I canā€™t register until then because I need credits transferred to fulfill prerequisites, but I know exactly what I will take and those credits should transfer fine according to [NJ TRANSFER: Linking New Jerseyā€™s Colleges and Universities](http://www.njtransfer.org). In general, what is Rutgersā€™ timeline with post-admissions?

BeastMorgan:

I was accepted about a month ago to SAS. You will get your Financial Aid offer very soon, I got mine within a week or two of being admitted. The housing deposit is $200.00.

Are you going in as a Junior? I applied for College Ave, I really hope I get housing there.

@transferRu:

Hang in there. Get some more credits under your belt, and youā€™ll be admitted. I know itā€™s like if you have under a certain amount of credits or something at RU they require SAT scores and look more at HS grades. I donā€™t know the number at the top of my head, but I have been in your situation before. Just keep up your grades, get more credits, and youā€™ll be at Rutgers in no time.

Iā€™m sort of a junior. I have enough credits but theyā€™re not all in engineering so I still have to do some sophomore level courses in engineering. But yes, technically, I will be junior. Since the housing deposit is $200, Iā€™m going to hold off on doing anything with that until I see my financial aid award. I would very much like to live on campus, but I gotta see the money situation first. I donā€™t think it will be a problem, but you never know. How long until you got a credit evaluation from SAS? I am aware that it may be different with SOE, but it will probably be somewhat similar.

Thank you so much, Beast Morgan and scold86! Congratulations to both of you!

Beast. I couldnt find the credit evaluation anywhere, not even on the enrollment pathway. What I did was google ā€œrutgers transfer credit evalutationā€ and it linked me to a screen tha prompted me to enter my RUID/password and then is showed how many of my credits transferred. Also, you should be able to see your initial financial aid offer by going to studentaid.rutgers.edu/new.

Question/Opinion: I will be attending RBS-Newark living on campus and its $24,400. I would have to take out $6500 in loans. I basically got $17500 which is great! I was wondering is the 6500 a big deal in loans? My tuition would be totally free if I didnt dorm. Do you guys think I should dorm? I live about 10 mins away from newark but i just dont want to commute.

Beast:

I donā€™t think anyone that is transferring has received an evaluation yet. Iā€™m pretty sure it will be soon, although I did hear someone say Mid-June at one point. But who knowsā€¦ it should be soon.

Beast:

My son transferred last fall, and he received his credits in several stages. First in spring after he was accepted, later in the summer after his spring semester grades were applied, and then later (either in summer or early fall) he had to take a test to show that he knew the subject matter. His previous university taught the material in one course, while Rutgers taught it in two. He started in the fall as a sophomore, but was eventually brought to junior status where he should have been. So, I would recommend being very proactive to make sure you get what you deserve.

To UCCboii:
You should remember to multiply that $6500 for two years so youā€™ll actually owe $13000 plus possible accrued interest. I would say it depends on the kind of money you expect to making when you get graduate. I feel pretty confident about getting a good job when I get out for engineering so I would do it, since dorm life can be pretty awesome (I dormed when I went to William Paterson), but the debt could become like boat anchor early on. Still, compared to other schools, $13000 is peanuts.

Oh, and I can see what lack of credits I have transferred at degree navigator. The only thing there is the summer courses I took at RU last summer; they just reinstated my NetID from the summer so I can log into everything. Really, the only thing I can do, after I send in some immunization stuff, is wait.

Beast

Youā€™re exactly right! 13000 is peanuts. However, I think that I will just dorm for my junior year and then commute for senior. That 6500 is really just for the dorm, because tuition was completely covered and then some. But I really want to experience dorm lifeā€¦it looks so much fun and I never got to experience that, being at CC and commuting. Also, itā€™s kind of hard to establish lasting friendships at CCs. At RU, you live with the people and are involded in activities with them. Iā€™ll have to give this some thought and remain concious that this is just an initial offer that may or may not increase.

Thats good you are now able to access that information. Did you go to your Dr to get you immunization records orā€¦? Got the shot(s) via RU?

I havenā€™t gotten around to getting the immunization records, but I should have everything from the last time provided nothing new is required.

hi guys,
i got accepted to SAS and SBES. soo excited!! but i donā€™t know which one to choose? I am a biology major? What do you guys think? Please help me outā€¦ and i had no idea what star day was. thanks for the info :)

Njstudent: CONGRATS!! I know how happy you must be.

Beast: Good to know, I havent had a shot since December '07. So basically you just go to ur doctor and pick up your medical records right?

Also, can anyone tell me what/when is STAR day?

Yeah, thatā€™s what Iā€™m going to do. Iā€™ll have the doctor fill out the Rutgers form himself.

Congrats to all who got accepted! I was accepted to SAS as a transfer from community college. Iā€™m majoring in finance, do I have to reapply to RBS before fall? What are the prereqs for business school?

I currently have a 3.0 gpa at BCC and plan on graduating with an associates degree and a 3.3 gpa from NYU (summer classes) so i wanted to know what my chances are getting into Rutgers NB SAS program

also i currently have 50 credits under my belt and plan on having 60+ by the end of the fall semester and plan on tranfering in the Spring
