Rutgers Fall of 2018 Waitlist

I have, unfortunately, been placed on the waitlist for Rutger’s SOE. I’m opening up this thread to see who else has been placed on the waitlist this year (doesn’t have to be the SOE). If you can include your stat’s, that would be great too! If you’ve applied in years past and have been waitlisted, please let us know what to (and not to) expect in your own experience.

My Stats:
School: SAS (Pending), SOE(Waitlist), SOB (Pending).
GPA: 3.5ish UW
Rigor: 2 AP’s and all Honors for the most part
SAT/ACT: 1200 (600 Reading and Writing)
Ethnicity: Hispanic
Legacy: No
EC’s: Winter/Spring Track, founded my own startup, Junior iOS developer at a tech company, Debate Club, can play a few instruments, and Soccer.

waitlisted at NB SAS when I applied early action with a 1160 (620 reading and writing) 3.57 unweighted 3.97 weighted but I reapplied while they were still accepting regular decision applications and was accepted to SEBS

Waitlisted Rutgers NB SEBS
1200 SAT(most recent)
3.3W GPA(most recent)
4.0W mid year semester GPA

@nikolateslaxi you got waitlisted at SEBS? when did you apply

About a month ago @rutgersknight322

I applied EA and got accepted to SEBS and Newark Nursing, but waitlisted for the NB School of Nursing. I am so stressed because Rutgers NB was my first choice school and I still really want to get off the waitlist in May - but lets be honest, I’m still going to RU even if they wait until August to accept me. However, I’m scared they won’t accept me at all.

SAT: 1310 (690 Math, 620 Reading)
GPA: 4.012
Legacy: no
Took AP Bio, APUSH, and AP English 1 junior year.
Currently taking AP Psychology, AP Calculus AB, and AP English 2.
I’ve done varsity cheer (football and competition cheer) for 3 years and was active in clubs all throughout high school (Stand Up To Cancer, TIGS, Poetry Club, etc).
Also, for the past 3 years, I’ve been volunteering at a summer camp for kids with disabilities.

I also am in Spanish Honors Society and took part in the Rutgers B.O.L.D. program (which is basically a camp for a week during the summer where you learn about oncology, it was a lot of fun) and included that on my application. I emailed the undergrad admissions to ask if notifying them I was recently accepted into my school’s National Honors Society would be able to help my spot on the waitlist at all - although, I don’t know if it would even matter now because it wasn’t on my application.

I applied EA to the Rutgers Business School in New Brunswick and Newark as well as the School of Arts and Sciences in New Brunswick. I was accepted into SAS and RBS Newark but was waitlisted at RBS New Brunswick. My stats are:
SAT: 1300 (670 Math 630 English)
Weighted GPA: 4.2
Volunteer for a non profit organization
Took AP US History, AP World History, and I am currently taking AP US Government & Politics and AP Economics
RBS New Brunswick is my first choice and I hope I get accepted. Given my stats, do I have a shot?
In the meanwhile, I am most likely going to put a deposit down for RBS Newark.

@em17ru Did you get into the nursing school?

Now that it’s May 1st, when can waitlist decisions from Rutgers be expected to come out? I applied EA with a 1360 SAT, and a 3.45 GPA. Tons of extracurricular. Is there any chance of getting off and if so, when will they start coming out? Also, took 5 Ap classes this year, and had a 4.3 Gpa for semester one. Submitted to Rutgers for mid-year reports.

Just submitted my deposit

Waitlisted SOE, accepted SAS NB deposit.

3.13 uw, 8 APs, 1330

Varsity swim captain, club swim, track, FBLA state, long distance hiking, so decent ECs overall. Worked on essay for about a month, reviewed by multiple teachers and peers.

What are the odds for getting off the waitlist? My plan was to grind hard and transfer into SOE. Also, do I lose my deposit if I get off the waitlist?

So no one knows when waitlist decisions will start coming out?

@jman732 they are random

My DS is waitlisted for NB SAS. (1300 SAT, 3.7w). First choice was RBS, but unfortunately that didn’t happen. If he gets in the plan would be to xfer to RBS within the first two years. That is a risky plan, but the alternative is $15K a year more (at least) to go to a decent out-of-state business school.

BTW, has anybody heard if they are working through the waitlist yet?

Did anyone hear yet?

Update - after a month still no word (good or bad) from Rutgers. The lack of communication in this process is disappointing. Hopefully you have a good backup plan.

Final update - as of July 21 it looks like the SAS waitlist is closed for the year and my DS was not admitted. Luckily we have another great option and he is excited to be starting college in about a month.
