Rutgers Financial Aid

Okay basically my first question is... I looked online on how much Rutgers could be is that Tuition and Fees are always put together. I could understand what the tuition is, but can anyone tell me directly what the fees are composed of? For example is it enrollment fees, and others put together?

Also on the initial offer on the bottom there are *** saying that for the Tag grant I will be directly notified from them. Did anyone get a notification yet?

I guess my last question would be that if you appeal to the Financial Aid office would they be more lenient or at least try to help due to the bad economy, and if they can see your family will struggle with a given cost?

I would assume fees are things like the campus fee (I think that’s what it’s called), and maybe the things you can opt out of such as the targum and NJPIRG.

I’ve found financial aid to be fairly unhelpful. You’ll be lucky if you get past the secretary, they usually just try to direct you to a form or a website.

the people at financial aid office are fairly unhelpful and to some degree, are fairly incompetent. actually no, one dude was helpful there when they put a financial hold on my account the day of registering for classes because the FA screwed up in transferring my scholarships. grr. anyway,

they simply have too many kids to look after. definitely appeal to the FA office, but as said before, they will most likely direct you to a way of doing so that requires less work for them.

Best way to contact financial aid is to go to their website and contact your financial aid officer by email. Students are referred to specific aid officiers based on their last name. Rutgers has so many students, you will be addressed in order through an email. Remember they are people too, and very busy this time of year.

a friend of mine got his scholarship letter today. 10k over 4 years, i’m looking to get the same. (1970 SAT, 1340 combined)

hmm are you sure that you’ll get the 10k scholarship? i think you need at least a 1400 for that.
