I got an email from Rutgers yesterday. This is what they gave me:

Awards Annual Amount
FEDERAL DIRECT LOAN-SUBSIDIZED
$ 3,500
FEDERAL DIRECT LOAN-UNSUBSIDIZED
$ 2,000

TOTAL
$ 5,500

Unfortunately the federal government doesn't take into account the cost of living in different states, so the money we make now isn't at all proportional to the amount they expect us to pay.

$5,500 is obviously not enough to pay my tuition, and I enrolled already so no matter what, I'm going to Rutgers. However, I don't know how I can pay for it. What do I do from here? Is it still possible for me to get into a work-study program or get some scholarship money? I meet the criteria for the Scarlet Scholarship but I'm assuming I wasn't selected to receive it.

Also, I've heard people recommend calling the financial aid office and asking for more money, but how would I go about doing that? I would think that "HEY GIMMIE MORE MONEY" wouldn't work too well, so what should I tell them?
